Dale started working as part of AUB's Marketing team in June 2022. His background is rooted in writing and producing content on a diverse range of subjects, from food to cryptocurrency. Having trained as a journalist, he freelanced as a restaurant critic and music reviewer before actively working with and promoting creative and artistic people local to Bournemouth and Poole. This was as a senior journalist for the human-interest blog Humans of Bournemouth, which later rebranded as HQB News, where Dale was promoted to editor. He served in this position until the magazine's closure in 2021.
Now, Dale helps to promote the work and achievements of AUB students as he helps lead the Student Stories section of the University website, and puts his journalism skills to use by occasionally supporting the Marketing press desk with news stories, alumni features and interviews for the website and One Piece of Advice magazine. He has also contributed articles to supplements such as the UniTasterDays Parents' Guide.
On the side, Dale is an author, having written and independently published two historical mystery novels, as well as short stories, even getting longlisted in the short story category for the Bournemouth Writing Prize in 2022. He's currently working on a World War II thriller as his third full-length novel.
Furthermore, he keeps his hand in broadcasting and has run a podcast on writing, publishing and storytelling since 2021. With this podcast, he interviews authors, filmmakers, screenwriters, poets and playwrights at all stages of their careers from across the world. He took the show to Bournemouth Writing Festival in 2024.
