I am a graduate of De Montfort University (BA (Hons)) and Bournemouth University (PG Dip/MA). In 2017 I gained a Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice from Southampton University and became a Fellow of the HE Academy the year after.
After winning the Royal Shakespeare Company (NSDF) Buzz Goodbody Award for directing and following a short internship at the RSC, I became an associate director of the Leicester Haymarket Theatre and Artistic director of the Leicester Haymarket Studio Theatre.
I have over 25 professional theatre credits to my name including, Theatre Powys, Hoot Theatre, The Soho Theatre, Theatre De Juene, Strasburg, Palais De Música, Valencia, The Rondo Theatre. I have also worked as a freelance film and television director for Channel 4 and independent film projects.
Other work as a director and lecturer at prominent drama schools and universities include The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, The Manchester School of Theatre. L’ Escuela del Actor in Spain and The Arden School of Theatre Manchester where I was Principal.
Academic work as a freelance actor trainer includes Cambridge University (Trinity Hall), York University, University York Saint John, De Montfort University and Manchester Metropolitan University. Areas of specialism include the Stanislavsky System, Method Acting, Shakespeare, Acting for Screen and Acting through Song.
I write and crime novels and adventure stories as a catalyst for developing and utilising the Stanislavsky System as a potential tool for writing prose.
This is my 11th year as part of the BA (Hons) Acting team. I am mainly responsible for the Level 4 syllabus, which introduces and develops the actor’s toolkit through the challenges presented by psychological realism.
I am also responsible for the Acting for Camera training and collaborate closely with Bournemouth Film School in this respect. I direct final-year productions and contribute to several Level 6 units – Negotiated Practice and Production Practice.
Working Internationally, I have lived in the south of France for 20 years.
I continue to write and publish novels using the Stanislavsky System.
