Overview
I have spent over thirty years working with design; in both industry and education. I have worked internationally; London, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Canada, Malaysia, Singapore and Australia. Each location providing new and exciting challenges, broadening my scope of graphic design and my understanding of how it works. Living in these locations as opposed to visiting them has enabled me to experience and partake in the cultural values and customs of these countries, which has profoundly broadened my knowledge leading to a much greater understanding as to how environment, culture and values influence communication and the visual aesthetic.
My role at AUB includes writing curriculum, scheduling, organising off-campus trips, hosting workshops and providing tutorials (group and face-to-face).

Teaching
I currently teach on the BA (Hons) Graphic Design course at Arts University Bournemouth. I have previously taught on the Diploma in Graphic Design at the Australian Institute for University Studies, Joondalup, Western Australia; the BA (Hons) Graphic Design course at Curtin University of Technology, Perth, Western Australia; Diploma in Graphic Design, Limkokwing Institute for Creative Technology, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and the BA (Hons) Graphic Design course Limkokwing Institute for Creative Technology, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Research Interests and Projects
I presented at the International Federation on Ageing’s 6th Global Conference ‘Maturity Matters’. Topic related to design students’ perceptions of the elderly.
- 2003 – published in the Dyslexia -Speld Foundation Magazine on producing Dyslexia Friendly text.
- 2004 – interviewed by ABC Radio about my research ‘A Critical Review of the Typographic Design, Production and Delivery of English Printed Medicinal Instructions with Specific Emphasis on Matter Concerning Australia’.
- 2005 – relocated to the UK and began work at AUB.
- 2011 – AUB Teaching and Learning Conference – Managing Large cohorts in Design Education.
- 2012 – University of Salford Education Conference – Pecha Kucha Presentation – Healthy Competition in the Learning Environment.
- 2011-2014 – Co-working with students producing promotional material for the Acting Course.

- 2016/17 – Co-worked with students and colleagues in conjunction with a local museum hosting an exhibition of unused Valentine’s cards.
- 2017 – Hosted a workshop for GDEN (Graphic Design Educators Network) Symposium entitled ‘Scribble Me, Make Me, Genius Me’ (it aimed to reconnect people with their younger creative selves). 2017-Co-presented with students and a colleague at the HEA Conference: TEF: Teaching in the Spotlight – ‘Working with Students as Partners’.
- 2017 – Professional qualification – Proofreading (Chapter House Publishing). 2018 – Professional qualification – Copy Editing (Chapter House Publishing).
- 2018 – Published a visual essay in Visual Communication Journal (Sage Publishing). Entitled 426-430 Ashley Road, the work visually narrates the secret life of this building from the late 1880s to 2017.
- 2017/18 – Worked with students as partners proposing new visual assets for a local museum. The work formed part of their successful Heritage Lottery Funding bid.
- 2018 – co-wrote and co-presented a paper at the Fearful Futures, European Conference on Arts and Humanities in Brighton. Entitled ‘Creative Futures’, the paper discussed experiences of working with students as partners on ‘live projects’.
