György Laszlo

György was appointed as a senior lecturer for cinematography in March 2022. He has a diverse academic and professional background that ranges from an MA in American Studies and a deep interest in cognitive science to an MA in Cinematography from FAMU and years of experience in shooting both on film and digital across various genres. He also does a lot of portraiture and street photography.

Before his appointment, György has freelanced for 20 years as a cinematographer and a camera operator. As a cinematographer his roots are set deep in the European tradition in which DOPs ask not only practical, but also deeply conceptual questions. He has also been running his own educational company teaching photography and filmmaking since 2013.

He was born in Budapest, has lived in Prague for 15 years and in London since 2012.
