Jazz Gritt trained at Creative Academy, Ballet Boyz the Dancers Course and finally, the Northern School of Contemporary Dance; completing his BPA and MA.
He helped start up Brink Dance Company creating unique dance and projection performances in unusual spaces. And continued on to work for 2Faced Dance company as a touring Dance Artist and later, Education Officer.
Jazz has gained a diverse skill set in dance techniques, events and education allowing him to create experiences for audiences and his students, in contemporary and commercial forms. Fusing the two, to create dynamic phrases and choreography.
Previous experience has Jazz as a Visiting Tutor at the Arts University Bournemouth since 2020. Before this he has been a guest teacher across dance organisations such as Swindon Dance and Pavilion Dance South West. Taught in Higher and Further Education courses. As well as within and around the KS2, KS3 and KS4 curriculum.
Jazz's interests in dance lay in the sweet spot where styles blend and rules are blurred. This is what drew him to contemporary dance, in its difficulty to codify. Currently, he is exploring how rules of musicality and urban styles mix through with contemporary dance technique.
