Katie Barons

Currently I teach drawing and painting to VFX students who need a grasp of all the traditional skills artists have always used such as understanding colour, light, form and composition. We cover life drawing, still life and perspective including land and cityscapes. In addition, I teach drawing and painting to the Animation students who also need these same skills and with whom I particularly focus on life drawing. We teach these topics with an atelier approach.

I have always enjoyed the challenge of making drawing and painting accessible to art students from a range of disciplines, and with a range of drawing experience. There are so many crossovers between different artistic disciplines and drawing is fundamental. I have taught drawing across courses such as Textiles, Fashion, Fine Art, Photography, Architecture and more at AUB, Cardiff School of Art, and Plymouth College of Art both at Further Education and Higher Education.

I love seeing the students develop in their work and confidence and find teaching along side my own painting extremely rewarding.
