Sam Jackson

My experience in both education and Arts industry is unique, I have a an internationally recognised career as a practicing painter- represented and showing recently with Galerie Heike Strelow in Frankfurt, Charlie Smith London gallery and previously being involved in museum survey exhibitions such as ‘Reality: Modern and Contemporary British Painting’ with work held in world class collections from Charles and Kay Saatchi, David Roberts, The Sainsbury's Centre and Norman Rosenthal. Having had six solo shows in London alone since graduating from the RA schools and the dialogues with fellow peers, academics, artists, painters and students makes for a thriving and exciting teaching ethos which I pursue at AUB.

This combined with a First-Class Honours Degree, 3 year Post-Graduate study at Royal Academy Schools allows me to translate my love of teaching and painting to the students.

Working with a wide range of incredible visiting tutors/artists and staff has helped develop and understand my teaching from an academic and student centred approach. Obtaining a PGCE in Higher Education to understand pedagogy and having worked within the Foundation to Post-Grad educational system has enabled me to be both acutely aware of the needs of current students and have an extremely high level of professional knowledge, contacts and contemporary discourse, that I seek to pursue in this unique environment.

My role is to develop innovative research proposals and attract research funding. I have a proven ability to plan, manage, organise and assess my own teaching contributions and peers. I have also proven ability in the design of course units, curriculum development and new teaching approaches that would both inform and develop my teaching and student experience. I have developed exciting, fresh and contemporary workshops on painting that have had amazing and profound effects on the students and their future careers.
