Sara’s professional career began as an assistant in the Wigs and Make-up department at The Royal Shakespeare Company, Stratford-upon-Avon. Sara became Head of Wigs and Make-up for the RSC regional and overseas tours, which gave her extensive knowledge of international touring theatre.
Sara has worked on many west end productions including Head of Wigs and Make-up on the busy production of Crazy for You! (Prince Edward Theatre), Measure for Measure (Young Vic), Richard III (Donmar Warehouse) and The Blue Angel (Gielgud Theatre). Sara's further credits include head of Wigs and Make-up for the musical 'Cats' (UK Tour and New London Theatre). She continues to work as a freelance wig maker and make-up artist.
Sara is also a painter. Her current paintings explore how Identity is constructed through appearance, and how character is represented and interpreted by an audience. Her work interrogates the physicality of ageing flesh through portraiture and considers notions of glamour, beauty and the grotesque.
Sara has led the development of BA (Hons) Make-up for Media and Performance since its inception.
