Seyithan is a lecturer delivering Design and Contextual Studies courses at the School of Art, Design and Architecture.
Since 2018, Seyithan has worked as a researcher at the Royal College of Art on several externally and internally funded projects. At the same time, he has led and taught undergraduate and postgraduate courses on critical and contextual studies, research methods and design at the University of Hertfordshire and Architectural Association School of Architecture.
Seyithan's research broadly focuses on the construction and systematisation of design knowledge in housing and the built environment. In particular, he studies policies, manuals, and guidelines for architectural design; the evidence, data, methodology and reasoning underlying them; and seeks to develop alternative evidence and innovative approaches. He has published his research as peer-reviewed articles in leading housing studies and architecture journals, and as chapters in edited volumes; and he regularly reviews articles for various academic journals.
Seyithan holds a PhD from the Royal College of Art, London; an MPhil from the Architectural Association School of Architecture, London and a B.Arch. degree from the Middle East University, Turkey.
