Valerie Lodge

Valerie is Research Manager at the AUB within the Graduate School and Research. She coordinates the research degree programme supporting PhD students from application through to examination and graduation. She was responsible for coordinating AUB’s return to the Research Excellence Framework (REF 2021) exercise. Her wide-ranging role encompasses research ethics, research funding, impact, open access, and research policy.

Having qualified as a Chartered Librarian, Valerie worked in public and academic libraries. Following a period in academic development, she moved across to supporting AUB's growing research environment. She was seconded to HEFCE (now Research England) in 2014, acting as REF Panel Secretary for three REF Panels.
