Dr Yujin Kim is a Lecturer in BA (Hons) Architecture at Arts University Bournemouth, UK since 2024. Through her teaching practice, she has developed a growing focus on pedagogy-informed AI support for teaching and learning in creative education, particularly in response to the needs of studio-based learning. This direction is informed by her doctoral research background, which involved computational and performance-based analysis with an emphasis on evaluating processes, iteration and outcomes, an approach that aligns closely with studio-based learning.
Her PhD thesis, completed at the Architectural Association School of Architecture in London, UK, is titled 'Geometries of Tall Buildings Improving Wind Comfort in London' and focuses on urban microclimate and building performance. The research involved quantitative and qualitative analysis using building performance assessment software and programming languages.
She was awarded a Master of Architecture from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, the US, after securing a Bachelor of Engineering in Architecture from Chung-Ang University, Seoul, South Korea.
She has experience teaching at an undergraduate architectural studio at Konkuk University, Seoul, South Korea as an architectural instructor. Additionally, she has experience reviewing students' presentations for the undergraduate architectural programme at Yeungnam University in Gyeongsangbuk-do, South Korea as a juror.
She has also gained considerable professional experience in architectural offices in the USA and South Korea for ten years. During that time, she worked on various projects, including higher education, offices, hotels, embassy and shopping malls.
