Overview
Trained in 3D Design Glass and Ceramics specialising professionally in stained glass design and construction. Commercial work focusses on traditional domestic glass design and restoration; experimental practice explores geometric structures for pattern. Practices extend to illustration and book arts which was a focus for Master's study. Current research examines an historic textile print and pattern design collection and methods for its dissemination (underpinning MRes Arts) Multidisciplinary design practice has assisted in teaching contextual studies making clear connections between research, theory and practice.

Teaching
At AUB, I teach contextual study and research practices on BA (Hons) Fashion. I have previously taught on BA (Hons) Fashion Branding and Communication, Visual Communication, and have supported on BA (Hons) Illustration and Textiles.
Prior to AUB, I have taught drawing and watercolour in the Adult Education sector for Poole and Bournemouth; GCSE art at the Victoria Education Centre for secondary pupils with physical disabilities, complex medical/neurological conditions or additional needs including communication difficulties, learning difficulties and sensory impairments. In addition, GCSE art at Queensbridge School in Birmingham.
I have taught Art and Design in the independent primary sector - West House School Birmingham.

Research Interests and Projects
My recent MRes Arts project established an audio visual method for disseminating pattern and textile design work of 1930s designer Mary Appleby Harper from Birmingham. It drew on ASMR and Most Satisfying style content to mediate the collection in a primary manner whilst minimising the need for physical handling. The project traversed fields of curation, conservation and archiving.
The study of Harper and the story of the collection is the subject of a book in development.
